OUR MISSION
The Society for a Secure and Sustainable Water Future is dedicated to advancing long-term water sustainability, environmental resilience, and practical solutions that help communities better prepare for the future. While rainwater harvesting is a major focus of the organization’s work, the broader mission extends far beyond simply collecting rainwater. The organization is focused on rethinking how society values, manages, conserves, and protects water in the face of growing environmental pressures, aging infrastructure, population growth, pollution, climate uncertainty, and increasing strain on public water systems.
Led by Tyrone Jarvis, Leslie Jarvis, and Alexander Jarvis, the organization combines policy advocacy, public education, media outreach, sustainability implementation, and community partnerships to promote smarter and more resilient approaches to water use. Through legislative work, real-world rainwater harvesting installations, environmental education initiatives, and collaborations with communities and organizations across Virginia, S4SSWF aims to help create a future where water is treated as one of society’s most valuable resources rather than something taken for granted.
The organization believes sustainability is not just about conservation, but about preparation, innovation, and resilience. Its mission includes encouraging decentralized and supplemental water solutions, reducing stormwater runoff and pollution, supporting sustainable infrastructure, educating the public on wise water use, and helping communities adapt to future environmental and infrastructure challenges before they become crises. By blending advocacy, implementation, education, and forward-thinking solutions, S4SSWF works toward building a future where communities are more environmentally responsible, self-sufficient, and prepared for the water challenges of tomorrow.
